Joe's Art Time partners with The Portico to support, organize, and provide it's art initiatives.
We host Art Expressions, a weekly open art studio, primarily attended by people experiencing homelessness. This open studio is run by an art therapist, free to the public, supplies and light refreshments are provided, and no experience is necessary. Art Expressions serves as a safe, creative space for community members to express themselves and relax.
The Portico embraces the power of art at their 1001 Gathering. We provide art supplies for this unconventional, inclusive service, where the presence of art allows for another avenue for people to connect to their religion/spirituality and community.
Every three months, we co-host an Art & Open Mic Night at the Portico. Each event is the marking of a new art exhibition on Portico's campus, with a new theme and focus. Our hope for this collaborative event is to bring creatives from all backgrounds together to celebrate their passion and foster a sense of community.
Joe's Art Time organizes and installs the artwork for the exhibition, along with providing marketing materials for the event. Additionally, our staff supports participating artists with professional development, providing assistance with pricing, hanging, and marketing their art.
